Breve storia di Israele ad usum ignorantis

Premetto che non sono né Israeliano né Ebreo (e mi spiace quasi). Scrivo questi appunti non esaustivi per fornire un po’ di chiarezza a coloro che sparlano di argomenti vitali senza nemmeno prendersi la briga di informarsi. Ho sentito negli anni affermare che Israele sarebbe uno Stato grande come l’Italia, e che gli Ebrei hanno cacciato via dalla Palestina popolazioni indigene per stabilirvisi negli anni ’40. Dunque, partiamo dall’inizio. Israele ha una superficie di 20.770 kmq, inferiore a quella della Sicilia (25.710 kmq), con una popolazione di 6.700.000 di abitanti (la Sicilia ne ha 5.087.000, e la sola area urbana di Milano ne ha 7.400.000). È circondata dai seguenti stati islamici confinanti: Siria kmq 5.087.000 abitanti 17.585.540 Libano kmq 10.452 abitanti 3.826.018 Egitto kmq 1.001.450 abitanti 77.505.756 Giordania kmq 92.300 abitanti 5.153.378 A cui bisogna aggiungere altri 3.702.212 di Palestinesi su un territorio di 6.220 kmq che porta un totale di 107.772.904 di musulmani confinanti. Alle spalle di queste popolazioni vi sono altre centinaia di milioni di musulmani. [fonte Wikipedia]

RISALENDO ALLE ORIGINI DELLA STORIA. Gli Ebrei, chiamati anche Israeliti e Giudei o Cananei, verso il 2000 a.C. assieme ad altre tribù Semite scendono dalla Mesopotamia per approdare nelle terre disabitate della costa, chiamata in seguito Palestina, dove si stabiliscono. È il periodo dei patriarchi, Abramo, Isacco, Giacobbe, ecc. Qui prosperano e si movimentano verso le regioni circostanti, specie l’Egitto. Dopo il XVII sec. a.C. le tribù ebree che abitavano in Egitto (dove vivevano in pace coi locali) fanno ritorno in Palestina perché invise ai nuovi conquistatori dell’Egitto, gli Hyksos (stirpi mesopotamiche) e si riuniscono alle tribù ebraiche qui rimaste. È l’epoca di Mosè. In Palestina le varie tribù ebree continuano a vivere fino alla fine dell’VIII sec., quando il loro regno viene invaso dagli Assiri (che per capirci vivevano in un territorio identificabile con l’attuale Irak). Dopo un assedio di tre anni, la capitale giudaica Samaria è conquistata e la popolazione ebrea deportata a Babilonia (la prima diaspora). Tutta la terra dei Giudei viene colonizzata da Babilonesi e Siriani (ricorda qualcosa...). Bisogna aspettare che l’impero babilonese venga attaccato e distrutto dai Persiani (odierni Iraniani) per vedere la fine della cattività degli Ebrei in terra straniera (anche questo ricorda qualcosa). Nel VI sec. gli Ebrei ricominciano a tornare in Palestina perché il re persiano Ciro li libera dalla schiavitù trattandoli con amicizia (oggi verrebbe da ridere). In Palestina gli Ebrei vivono in pace (relativa, per quei tempi) fino alla conquista di Alessandro Magno. Un alternarsi di conquiste egiziane ha termine con la conquista della Palestina da parte dei Romani. Siamo nel 64 a.C. La repressione romana fu terribile. Sul fatto che Gesù fosse ebreo e fosse nato in Palestina direi, almeno su questo, che non c’è chi possa dubitarne. Un fenomeno completamente nuovo si ebbe tre secoli dopo, quando politicamente il cristianesimo fu forte abbastanza da prevalere sull’ebraismo, tanto da far nascere un antisemitismo religioso (vedasi Editto di Milano, 313, e, per chi volesse, il mio libro sul Concilio di Nicea). Arriviamo al 624 d.C. Maometto con le tribù beduine inizia le sue conquiste e disperde le comunità israelite dell’Arabia settentrionale. La dominazione musulmana della Palestina durò fino al 1918, tranne i brevi periodi costituiti dai regni dei crociati. Gli Arabi si insediano in Palestina. Nel 1517 la Palestina diventa parte dell’impero ottomano (Turco). Dal 1880 nasce in Europa un movimento ebreo tendente a far tornare in Palestina gli ebrei esiliati (sionismo). Nella Prima guerra mondiale la Turchia era alleata della Prussia. Alla fine della guerra Gerusalemme è liberata dalle truppe inglesi che proclamano il ritorno di un insediamento statale ebraico nella terra originaria di Palestina (discorso del ministro inglese lord Balfour), ma in realtà la promessa non è mantenuta e la Gran Bretagna si assume il mandato della Palestina. Nel 1929 il ritorno delle famiglie ebree in Palestina produce scontento nelle popolazioni musulmane tanto da far scoppiare scontri violentissimi. Nel maggio 1942 il Programma Baltimore a New York rivendica la ri-costituzione di uno Stato ebraico sul territorio originario di Palestina. Nel frattempo le famiglie ebree nel mondo continuano a comperare terreni in Palestina che gli Arabi sono ben contenti di vendere a peso d’oro: si tratta perlopiù di terre abbandonate, inabitate e non coltivate. Tuttavia negli anni succede esattamente questo: le famiglie immigrate di Ebrei iniziano a coltivare le terre acquistate e a costruire paesi fiorenti. In una parte degli Arabi abitanti in Palestina sorge un sentimento di invidia e gelosia per l’operosità degli Ebrei, abilmente pilotato da capipopolo che alimentano ostilità nei confronti degli Ebrei per proprie mire politiche. La Grande rivolta araba (1935-1939) è un’esplosione di violenza e terrore tesa sia a rivendicare l’indipendenza dal mandato britannico e la creazione di uno Stato indipendente palestinese, sia la fine dell’immigrazione ebraica e l’espulsione dei nuovi arrivati. Dopo la Seconda guerra mondiale i paesi palestinesi abitati dai coloni ebrei, scampati al genocidio di sei milioni di loro durante una delle pagine più buie della storia umana, diventano sempre più città fiorenti, dove prima secoli di dominazione araba non avevano prodotto nulla e la popolazione musulmana seguitava a vivere poveramente. Gli scontri armati diventano di intensità sempre maggiore fra fazioni arabe ed Ebrei. La situazione peggiora fino al punto che la Gran Bretagna nel 1947 decide di abbandonare il mandato della Palestina. Gli Ebrei riescono a difendersi e a mantenere i loro territori. Nel novembre del 1947 l’Assemblea Plenaria dell’Onu, dopo sei mesi di lavoro da parte dell’UNSCOP (United Nations Special Committee on Palestine), delibera la Risoluzione n. 181, ossia la spartizione della Palestina in due Stati, uno ebraico («con molte zone desertiche» fonte Wikipedia) e uno arabo, con Gerusalemme città internazionale. Il 15 maggio 1948, il mandato britannico scade ufficialmente e finalmente viene proclamato lo Stato sovrano indipendente di Israele ponendo termine al sionismo. Le truppe britanniche si ritirarono. Il giorno dopo, 16 maggio, «gli eserciti di Egitto, Siria, Libano, Iraq e Transgiordania attaccarono il neonato Stato di Israele. L’offensiva venne bloccata dal neonato esercito israeliano le forze arabe vennero costrette ad arretrare. La guerra terminò con la sconfitta araba nel maggio del 1949 e produsse circa 700 mila profughi arabi. In seguito all’armistizio e al ritiro delle truppe ebraiche l’Egitto occupò la Striscia di Gaza mentre la Transgiordania occupò la Cisgiordania, assumendo il nome di Giordania. Israele si annetté la Galilea e altri territori a maggioranza araba conquistati nella guerra» (fonte Wikipedia). Nel 1967, per propri calcoli politici all’interno del mondo arabo, il presidente egiziano Nasser si mette alla testa di una minaccia contro Israele alleandosi con Siria e Giordania, ammassando truppe corazzate ai confini. Con un attacco lampo di sei giorni l’esercito israeliano sbaraglia gli eserciti nemici e conquista la Penisola del Sinai, le Alture del Golan, e la Striscia di Gaza che le permettevano di controllare meglio i terreni da cui erano provenuti gli attacchi. «Nel 1973 Egitto e Siria attaccarono a sorpresa Israele nel giorno della festività ebraica dello Yom Kippur. Nei primi giorni di conflitto i due paesi arabi ebbero la meglio ma, dopo una fase di stallo, le truppe israeliane riuscirono a riprendere il controllo della situazione e a rovesciare le sorti del conflitto, ricacciando Egiziani e Siriani al di là delle posizioni iniziali. In seguito, nel 1978, con gli accordi di Camp David, Israele si impegnava a restituire la Penisola del Sinai mentre l’Egitto si impegnava al riconoscimento dello Stato di Israele» (fonte Wikipedia). Gli anni recenti sono stati caratterizzati da continui conflitti armati fra l’Olp e gli Israeliani, fino a quando nel 1982 l’esercito israeliano costrinse l’Olp a fuggire trasferendosi in Tunisia. «Per lungo tempo l’Olp rifiutò di assumere come base per il dialogo la risoluzione 242 dell’Onu (che prevedeva il ritorno ai confini di prima della “guerra dei sei giorni”, legittimando così le conquiste territoriali israeliane del 1948-1949), finché nel 1988 la sua linea si ammorbidì consentendo l’avvio di un cauto e non sempre coerente avvicinamento fra le opposte posizioni» (fonte Wikipedia). Quando tutto sembrava iniziare a svolgersi verso una soluzione, Arafat proclamò la Prima Intifada (lotta armata) pensando (erroneamente) di poter ottenere molto di più, o, probabilmente, ritenendo che il proprio ruolo di capo militare non potesse trasformarsi in quello di politico. È molto più facile comandare un esercito terroristico che una nazione, e nessuno dell’Olp aveva intenzione di creare uno Stato palestinese che avrebbe decretato la fine del senso di esistere della lotta armata. Chi ci rimise fu il popolo palestinese che rimane tuttora in miseria nonostante miliardi di dollari stanziati dall’Occidente e finiti nelle casse dell’Olp. Nel 1993 si attua un vertice di pace a Washington che prevede un accordo sul ritiro da Gaza. Mediazione di Clinton. Israele accetta ma gli attacchi palestinesi ai civili non smettono: continuano stragi di Israeliani. Un nuovo vertice per la pace a Washington non riuscì a convincere con le sue proposte Arafat sui termini della pace e le trattative conobbero così un cocente fallimento. Nell’ultimo periodo, la nuova strategia di Hamas di ricorrere ad attentati suicidi contro i civili ebrei ha ulteriormente acuito la tensione, facendo irrigidire le posizioni degli Israeliani. La morte del leader dell’Olp Arafat (primavera 2004) ha finalmente sbloccato la situazione e l’elezione del suo successore Abu Mazen ha portato, tra innumerevoli azioni di guerriglia e di contro-guerriglia, di attentati terroristici palestinesi e di “uccisioni mirate” e dure ritorsioni israeliane contro civili palestinesi, allo sgombero (unilateralmente disposto nel 2005 dal premier israeliano Ariel Sharon) della Striscia di Gaza, consegnata in novembre all’Anp, sui cui valichi è stata chiamata a vigilare una forza di polizia della Comunità Europea, comandata da un generale dei Carabinieri dell’esercito italiano. In questo delicato momento, in cui al-Fatah è disposta a riconoscere Israele e a lavorare per uno Stato palestinese, Hamas séguita a proclamare la distruzione di Israele, in ciò fomentata da Hezbollah filo iraniano. Il resto è cronaca quotidiana.

Sono appena tornato da Hebron e Kiriath Arba e confermo totalmente tutto il suo resoconto storico e la sua analisi politica.

ciao....o forse buongiorno. Mi chiamo Veronica e frequento la seconda liceo linguistico. Sto svolgendo una ricerca di geografia sullo stato di Israele, che verrà poi presentato in classe. 1970: Settembre Nero. Re Hussein espelle le organizzazioni armate palestinesi dalla Giordania, che da quel momento si stabiliscono in Libano, causando anche lì terrore e rompendo il delicato equilibrio religioso, fattori che portarono alla guerra civile

La tua precisazione/questione è giusta: si fa risalire la discesa di Abramo nella Terra d'Israele a circa il 1800 a.c. All'epoca di Giacobbe e Giuseppe gli ebrei migrano in Egitto causa carestia. Circa nel 1200 avviene l'insediamento d'Israele da parte degli ebrei (il periodo delle 12 tribù). All'epoca c'erano i Cananei, che abitavano soprattutto la fascia costiera ed erano semiti (non ebrei). In questo periodo abbiamo anche lo stanziamento dei "popoli del mare" indeoeuropei (i Filistei), che si insediano lungo la piana costiera.
(Fonte: mio padre. Se volete ve lo regalo con piacere!! Nel senso che è utile, ma è prolisso che non ve sto a dì...).

Se invece la tua piccola precisazione/questione voleva essere una piccola provocazione/discussione circa la legittimità del diritto degli ebrei a quei territori, allora non c'è bidogno di andare tanto lontano!

Il Maghreb, prima della conquista araba (VIII sec d.c) era abitato da popolazioni berbere, generalmente animiste.

No, non sbagli, ma non sbaglio nemmeno io...

Quando Abramo vi giunge nel 1900 a.C. i territori desertici e inabitati di Palestina sono molti perché ovviamente a quel tempo la densità abitativa era irrisoria.
Francamente non credo si possa andare più indietro di così per stabilire le origini di un popolo, altrimenti dovremmo cacciare via anche i Francesi dalla Francia, visto che loro non sono altro che stirpi barbariche giunte da est.

Non mi capita spesso di leggere qualcosa di "lungo".
Stavolta era proprio il caso di farlo.
Penso che quei due popoli non hanno ragione "logica" di combattersi, perchè non sono in "concorrenza". La tecnica e le conoscenze israeliane, congiunte con la forza lavoro di un sacco di gente che non cerca altro che di vivere e di lavorare, potrebbero tutte crescere rapidamente, senza i costi enormi e l'assillo di sopravvivere. Quei due popoli, in pace, potrebbero diventare i "cinesi" del mediterraneo. Basterebbe un rispetto formale delle religioni (modello Europa e Turchia) e blindatura della pace a cura della diplomazia internazionale. I vantaggi esistenziali maggiori dello sviluppo andrebbero proprio ai Palestinesi, visto che stanno quasi a zero. E il loro lavoro sarebbe troppo prezioso per non proteggerlo e valorizzarlo.
E' la Pasqua che mi fa sognare o c'è qualcosa che regge ?
Vorrei lanciare uno slogan: "Cristo è risorto ? Bene. E allora, diamoci da fare !"
